Insurance Cover Delz Couriers Ltd maintains Goods in Transi

1. Insurance Cover

Delz Couriers Ltd maintains Goods in Transit (GIT) insurance cover up to £1,000,000 per load, covering loss of or damage to goods whilst in our care, custody and control during transit.

All transport services are subject to the terms, limits and conditions of our active insurance policy.

Proof of insurance can be provided 

1. Insurance Cover

Delz Couriers Ltd maintains Goods in Transit (GIT) insurance cover up to £1,000,000 per load, covering loss of or damage to goods whilst in our care, custody and control during transit.

All transport services are subject to the terms, limits and conditions of our active insurance policy.

Proof of insurance can be provided upon request.

2. Liability Limit

Unless otherwise agreed in writing prior to collection:

  • Our liability shall not exceed the declared value of the goods.
  • Liability is capped at a maximum of £1,000,000 per load.
  • Compensation will not exceed the proven replacement cost of the goods.

If no value is declared at the time of booking, liability may be limited in accordance with standard UK road transport practice.

3. Declaration of Value

Customers must declare the accurate value of goods at the time of booking.

Failure to declare full and accurate value may affect the level of compensation available in the event of loss or damage.

4. Excluded & Restricted Items

Unless agreed in writing prior to transport, the following are excluded:

  • Cash, bullion, securities or negotiable instruments
  • Jewellery, precious metals or high-value watches
  • Fine art or antiques
  • Unpackaged fragile goods
  • Hazardous or prohibited materials
  • Perishable goods
  • Goods exceeding the £1,000,000 policy limit

Transport of specialist or high-risk goods must be declared in advance.

5. Packaging & Loading Responsibility

All goods must be adequately packaged for safe road transport.

Delz Couriers Ltd shall not be liable for damage resulting from:

  • Insufficient packaging
  • Pre-existing damage
  • Improper labelling
  • Customer-loaded goods where no handling has been undertaken by our driver

6. Claims Procedure

Any claim for loss or damage must:

  • Be reported in writing within 24 hours of delivery (or scheduled delivery time)
  • Include photographic evidence
  • Include proof of value (invoice or purchase documentation)

Failure to comply with this procedure may invalidate the claim.

7. Consequential Loss

Delz Couriers Ltd shall not be liable for:

  • Loss of profit
  • Loss of business
  • Indirect or consequential losses
  • Delays caused by traffic, weather, accidents or circumstances beyond reasonable control

8. Additional Insurance

Where consignments require bespoke insurance arrangements or specialist cover beyond standard terms, additional cover may be arranged upon request and may be subject to additional charges.
